Hello Heaters!
Hopefully, everyone is winding down for the holidays by now but I have a feeling some of you are still running around for that last minute shopping. Remember this for next year, online shopping!!!
Seriously, as another year is settling down for us dragon boaters, we have much to be proud of. Just think of how much time you have devoted to this sport. I know and understand many of you have had to wake up in the wee hours to attend practice, particularly those who do NOT live close to Clear Lake. I am honored that so many of you have come to our practices just to go out and give it your best. It's tough but you continuously show your support by attending, sharing, recruiting, and volunteering. This is how we will continue to grow into a more refined dragon boat club; it's by our membership and sponsors. We've all had some time away from paddling and I'm hoping for the most of you that you are missing the camarderie, exercise, and spirit our sport has brought into your lives. When next year arrives, we'll look forward to friendly faces and newbies to help propel us as we head to the battelfield in other states.
My absence from this sport has been uneasy for me. I miss the art of perfecting my own stroke each and every practice I miss but plan and do look forward to getting back on. Save a seat for me!
I know some of you have asked for the tallies from the Year End Socials voting of events. The board will have to meet and decide about the optimal ones for Houston Heat to be competitive AND to have a tremendous learning experience with a solid officiating history. Please be atient as we've ALL have taken a break for a while.
Meanwile, spend the holidays with loved ones and close friends. I hope you all have a safe and memorable break. And remember, "Be kind to your neighbors..." (I can't remember what else I said).
Your President,
Minh Nguyen
