San Fran anyone? 2007/08/20 00:54
Hey HH!

To be better paddlers, one can never paddle in too many events. Here is a thread from Julie, Arizona Gila Dragons!

"Hi Minh,

Congratulations on your team's success in Long Beach! If you or anyone on your team would like to "Heat it up" in San Fran with the Gila Dragons Sept 22nd and 23rd we would love to have you. San Fran really is a great venue and it's even larger than Long Beach. I think a few of your paddlers were there last year and I'm sure they can confirm there was some great racing and it was a lot of fun.

Seeding works a little differently in San Fran than it did Long Beach. Instead of signing up for a specific division, placement in your first days heats determines the division you will be in for day two. That way you end up racing teams with similar levels of ability instead of trying to guess where your team fits in.

Besides racing, the Gilas have a brewery tour planned on Friday before the race and are looking to book a tour of Alcatrez on Saturday night. Most of us will fly in either Thursday night or Friday morning and leave on Monday morning. Sunday is usually a pretty full day of racing. We have a block of rooms reserved at the festival hotel so we can work out accommodations for anyone that would like to join us.

Please extend the offer to anyone on your team that may have interest.

We'll be making a decision on the Houston race pretty quickly. If everything works out we will be coming back as the Wild Wild West Dragons made up of AZ Gila Dragons, LA Thunder Dragons, LA Rogue Warriors and Portland Castaways. Oh yah, and we'll be bringing a can of West Coast whoop ass with us (AKA Barry George)!

Hope to see you soon!

Julie Hensley "

Thanks Julie and we hope you all much success in San Francisco!

Ice

Are you going Minh? I would like to, but sadly I don't have the money to do so right now.

P.S.
If it's paid, I may consider!

Airline tickets are ~$230. I really want to go but don't know if I can get the time off of work. I will probably make a decision by this weekend.

Is anyone else considering going???

230 is not bad. But considering hotel and food, you may end up spending no more than 500. Well.....depending on how you spend, perhaps even less.
