I signed up, but I don't know what a poolside practice is.
Are you in the pool or just beside it?

Great link Wendy!
For those who have never been to a poolside practice, it's really an awesome way to learn the correct muscles to use when paddling!
You sit at the edge of the pool and paddle like you would in a boat. But since the coaches are right there, they can assist with proper technique and form.
Because the water is fairly still (since we're not moving, like on a boat) it's a lot harder to rip through the water using just your arms (the incorrect way). You tire a lot more quickly than on the boat if you do! So you learn to use your back and all the other big muscles.
Paddling only gets easier the more times you do it!
One note: Since the water is a little higher than it would be in the boat, you might want to sit on a rolled up beach towel or butt pad to help elevate you a little higher off the pool's edge. Just don't fall in!
So if you're thinking about going and haven't sign up, do so! With the small group, the coaches get to spend extra time with you!
It's also a great endurance workout!
I'd be there but the board has a meeting that same night. =(

That's what we want...non-thinking paddlers who'll respond to commands!

That's a pretty awesome vid Lex. Did you watch part 2?
They threw in their dirty practice clothes, some oxyclean and 15 minutes later, their whites were whiter than the leading brand. Woosh. Woosh. Woosh. =P
