I know this is Easter weekend but we are on a really tight schedule to get everything in. TDBA will be on the water for the weekend of the 14th and 21st. The 28th is the Austin race.
I know the OC1 time trial is the next day (8th). We are aware that not everyone will be available but we most likely have another make up day for the OC1 time trial. We have to start on this day because there will be so many paddlers to go through.
The safety drill is really something I don’t want to put off. I’ve been out on the water many times in the last couple of months and there have been many days when the water is very choppy. I want to make sure we have everything in place in case of an emergency. It’s one thing to read about safety procedures and it’s another to perform one. The drills will not only give paddlers more confidence in the water but the coaches as well. As steersmen and coaches it is our responsibility to make sure the safety of paddlers is first priority. I feel we are taking a risk each time we go out in the water unprepared and so we have to minimize the risks as much as we can.
We can certainly plan on another drill in the near future and transfer the lessons we will learn during the April 7th drill.

I need 2 volunteers to practice "falling" out of the boat into the water with Coach Albert and myself (preferably someone comparable in size). No experience necessary but must have a working PFD.
This will take place after this Saturday's (3/31) water practice. The purpose of this is to determine how we will safely fall out of the boats during our real safety drill scheduled for the following practice.
Those who volunteer: Be prepared to get soaking wet, bring a change of clothes and a towel.
