thierry.jpgOur Male Member Spotlight for March is:

Thierry Dam!

Name: Thierry Dam

Nicknames:  T, Big T, T-Bone

Hometown: Douarnenez, France

Houston Heat Member since: April 2006

How did you hear about Houston Heat? Hau Pham & Suzanne Bui

What do you do when you're not dragon boating? Lift Weights, run at the park, volunteer, movies, eat, hang out with friends, land practice.

When and how did you start dragon boating? I started in 2004 when my cousin invited me to join the dragon boat team for ASYP (Asia Society Young Professionals).

What do you like best about dragon boating? I like being on the water every weekend. It relaxes me from a long week of work.

Favorite dragon boat experience so far: Long Beach, CA.

The best thing about being a member of Houston Heat: Being recognize as a professional dragon boater! And of course, meeting new people and making friends.

Top tip you'd give new paddlers: Do lots of back and arm workout when you're not on the water.

Anything else you'd like to share? If you're new on the boat, don't be afraid to ask questions about paddling techniques. I might not be a coach, but I'm more than happy to share my knowledge.

Wow Thierry on board! Well Thierry is correct in one aspect BUT Dragon boating is a full body work out. Add feet, calves, legs, lower-mid-upper back, lats, biceps, chest, shoulders, neck, brain, etc.
